Wingspan Care Group Joins the Alliance
January 31, 2011 - Wingspan Care Group in Shaker Heights, Ohio, has joined the Alliance for Children and Families. The organization began in 2002 as a collaboration designed to promote sustainability among human service organizations, but has evolved into a comprehensive, community-based network that aims to improve the lives of children and families.
Wingspan is comprised of three partner agencies. These include the nonprofit organizations Applewood Centers and Bellefaire, as well as the for-profit company Monarch Teaching Technologies, which produces educational software for children with autism.
The partner organizations bring their own missions and boards of directors to Wingspan, but the collaborative structure allows them to benefit from shared resources, expertise, and lessons learned.
Wingspan, through its partner agencies, offers a variety of programs and services. It offers residential treatment and foster care programs, school-based counseling, outpatient therapy, and educational programs for children with special needs, including autism-spectrum disorders.
The organization has a staff of 900 and serves clients through nine sites in Ohio. Adam Jacobs, CEO, leads the organization.
